The U.S. Department of State rejected Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's accusations of American media, CNN in particular, being biased, "Haberturk" newspaper reported on Wednesday.
According to State Department spokesman Marie Harf, CNN is an independent and impartial TV channel.
"U.S. supports freedom of speech in Turkey, which allows American reporter to cover events in the country," - Harf said.
CNN reporters were detained and charged with espionage during their live broadcast about the protests in the country on Saturday.
