Turkish diplomats taken hostage by an "Islamic state" terrorist organization in the Iraqi city of Mosul were released as a result of a special operation of the Turkish intelligence (MIT), the Anadolu Turkish news agency reported Sept.20.

Details of the operation were not disclosed, but it is noted that the operation was being planned for a long time.

Turkey also reportedly did not pay for the hostages and didn't comply with any of the terrorists' demands.

It should be noted that Turkish citizens taken hostage in Iraq in the morning Sept. 20 were repatriated.

In connection with the release of hostages in Iraq, the Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu urgently returned from Azerbaijan to Turkey.

The people were originally captured in Mosul on June 19.
