The number of road motor vehicles stood at 18,532,604 in Turkey in the first eight months of 2014, a message posted on the website of the country's Statistical Institute said. Turkey motor vehicle market grew by 583,157 vehicles or 3.25 percent in January-August 2014. Cars accounted for 52.1 percent of the total number of vehicles in Turkey, trucks - 16.3 percent, motorcycles - 15.2 percent, tractors - 8.6 percent, buses - 2.3 percent, other road motor vehicles - 14.014 percent, according to the Statistical Institute. The message said that 41.9 percent of vehicles in the country run on liquefied petroleum gas, 29.6 percent - gasoline and 28.5 percent - diesel fuel.
Turkey ranks sixth in Europe for motor vehicle production. The cars of Ford, FIAT, Renault, Toyota, Honda, Opel, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and MAN brands are assembled in Turkey. Turkey also manufactures domestic brand buses, such as Temsa and Otokar. |
