Turkey launches its largest rescue ship

A new rescue ship was launched in Turkey's south-western province of Yalova on the coast of the Sea of ​​Marmara, TRT Haber news channel quoted Turkish Transport, Maritime and Communication Minister Lutfi Elvan as saying on Oct. 24.

The minister said the rescue ship, named Nene Hatun, was built at a cost of 31.14 million euros.

The vessel will be Turkey's largest rescue ship, the minister added.

The new ship is 87.8 meters long, and has a width of 19.5 meters.

Minister Elvan said that at present Turkey is considering the construction of multi-purpose rescue vessels, the total cost of which will be 4,864 million euros.
