Unknown armed persons took the prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz hostage in the building of the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office, TRT Haber TV channel reported on March 31.
Mehmet Selim Kiraz was processing the case of murder of 15-year-old Berkin Elvan who was killed on March 11, 2014 during the mass protest actions in Turkey, according to TRT Haber.
Reportedly, the unknown persons who have taken the prosecutor hostage are the members of a leftist illegal group, according to the preliminary data.
Gendarmerie forces have arrived at the scene and talks are being held on releasing the hostage.
The employees of the Prosecutor's Office are being evacuated from the building.
