The investigation over Prosecutor Selim Kiraz's death during an anti-terrorist operation at the Palace of Justice in Istanbul on March 31 revealed that he was a contract killing victim, the Turkish Haberturk newspaper reported April 7.

The investigative bodies also revealed that Turkish citizen Erdal Unal, living in Italy, ordered the killing of the prosecutor.

Unal, a member of the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) terrorist organization, has been already arrested in Italy and will be transported to Turkey.

Two armed men took the Prosecutor Selim Kiraz hostage in the Palace of Justice in Istanbul on March 31. The gunmen were identified as members of the far-left Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C), who demanded the arrest of the police officers responsible for the death of 15-year-old Berkin Elvan during the street protests in 2013.
