Statement by Pope Francis regarding the fact that supposedly the so-called Armenian genocide was committed on the territory of the Ottoman Empire in 1915, destroyed all the hope that religious leaders can act as mediators to settle political conflicts.

It sparked strong criticism by the president, the prime minister and head of the Turkish foreign ministry. Ankara recalled its ambassador to the Vatican for consultations.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the Pope's statement regarding the 1915 events inadmissible.

Pope's statement is apolitical amid Turkey's statements that Ankara is ready to do everything to find out the truth about the 1915 events.

There is a lot of evidence pointing to the fact that namely Armenian gangs massacred the Muslim population as well as representatives of other peoples who lived in Anatolia during the events of 1915.

Moreover, the evidences of Armenian terror - massacres of civilians in the beginning of the 20th century - can be found almost in all regions of Azerbaijan.

Talking about the "Armenian genocide", Armenian authorities and Armenian lobby every time increase the number of the "killed" people. If it was previously stated that 500,000 Armenians were "killed" during the 1915 events, now this figure equals to 1.5 million.

This is another reason to thoroughly examine the claims of Armenians regarding the 1915 events. If the "genocide" was really committed in 1915, the proposal of Turkish authorities to create a joint commission to investigate the mentioned events would not remain unanswered.

Unfortunately, the Vatican expressed support to the Armenian lies. The pope's statement not only promotes the growth of Islamophobia in Europe, but also poses threat to peace in the region.

While the Azerbaijani government supports the peaceful settlement of the conflicts in the South Caucasus, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, this statement by the pope foment ethnic conflicts.

Before making such a statement, the pope had better become familiar with the evidences of the Armenian terror in the 20th century.
