Kazakhstan and Turkey have signed contracts on 19 projects, worth over $800 million overall, Kazakhstan's Investment and Development Ministry said Apr.16.

The contracts were signed during Kazakhstan-Turkey business forum held in Astana with participation of the two countries' presidents.

Around 400 delegates - representatives of business circles, state bodies and national companies - from both sides took part in the business forum.

"The agreements envisage the construction of plants for production of aluminum radiators, window and door accessories, waterproofing and roofing materials, steel pipes, several types of concrete," said the ministry.

These agreements are also aimed at developing the commercial and military shipbuilding, ship repair and maritime transport, according to the Investment and Development Ministry.
It was earlier reported that Kazakhstan and Turkey develop the cooperation within the New Synergy economic program signed in 2012. This program intensified the joint work of the two countries in trade and investments, industry, agriculture, transport sphere and logistics, tourism, especially, in the sphere of small and medium-sized business.

Such large Turkish companies as Yildirim Group (mining and metallurgical complex, metallurgy, subsoil), Okan Holding (Sultan Marketing), Anadolu Beverage Group (Coca-Cola Icecek) and others entered the Kazakh market.

A number of small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in manufacturing of finished products, began to implement investment projects in the food and light industry, construction industry.

In addition, there is an agreement to transfer the FEZ Ontustik to the management of the Turkish side. The issue of establishment of joint industrial zones is also being considered.
Another important area of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkey is the development of transport and transit potential of the two countries.

In particular, the possibility of connecting Zhezkazgan-Beineu railway with a new Akhalkalaki (Georgia) - Kars (Turkey) railway line, which is under construction, with access to the European countries through the port of Baku and Istanbul on the new railway tunnel Marmaray is being discussed.

Over the last three years, the trade turnover between the two countries has doubled - from $2 billion to $4 billion, and this figure is projected to reach $10 billion within the framework of the program New Synergy, adopted by the heads of the two states.
