The US and Turkey will discuss the 1915 events during the visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu to Washington, the Turkish newspaper Milliyet said Apr.16 with reference to diplomatic sources.

It also reported that the Turkish foreign minister during his visit to the United States will urge President Obama not to use a word combination of "Armenian genocide" on April 24 while giving the traditional speech regarding the 1915 events.

Turkish foreign minister's visit will take place on April 18-21.

Turkey hopes that the US President Barack Obama won't be affected by the Armenian lie on 1915 events and won't use the word "genocide", Volkan Bozkir, Turkish minister for EU affairs said earlier.

He said that to date, the US has pursued a balanced policy on the 1915 events.

Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey's predecessor, the Ottoman Empire allegedly carried out "genocide" against the Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915.

Turkey in turn has always denied "the genocide" took place. While strengthening the efforts to promote the "genocide" in the world, Armenians have achieved its recognition by the parliaments of some countries.

Earlier, Turkish authorities, including the country's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly said that Ankara is ready to open the archives to investigate the 1915 events.

Moreover, Turkish authorities put forward the same proposal to Armenia as well. However, Armenian authorities continue to ignore this proposal.
