Some countries, which call for recognition of the 1915 events as "genocide" do not even know where Armenia is located, Minister for EU Affairs Volkan Bozkir said, the channel TRT Haber reported April 21.
The minister said Turkey is against the politicization of the 1915 events.
He also went on to add that the 1915 events is a common tragedy of all the peoples living in the Ottoman Empire.
Commenting on the expected speech of the US President Barack Obama about the 1915 events, Bozkir said that Ankara hopes Obama will not utter the word "genocide."
Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey's predecessor, the Ottoman Empire allegedly carried out "genocide" against the Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. Turkey in turn has always denied "the genocide" took place. While strengthening the efforts to promote the "genocide" in the world, Armenians have achieved its recognition by the parliaments of some countries.
