The Constitutional Court of Turkey has abolished the law on closing the private preparatory courses in the country, Milliyet newspaper reported July 14.

The law approved by Turkey's former President Abdullah Gul March 13, 2014, envisaged the closure of the mentioned courses starting from Sept.1, 2015.

Earlier, Turkey's then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced about closing the private preparatory courses.

Erdogan said that the country where the sphere of education receives state support, shouldn't have private preparatory courses.

As many as 3,640 private educational institutions were operating in Turkey in 2014, according to the country's Ministry of Education. This is while a total of 60,165 public education institutions operate in the country.
