One person was killed when suspected members of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attacked a group of railway workers near the Sarıkamısh district of the eastern province of Kars on Thursday, Todays Zaman reported.

The workers from the national railroad carrier, Turkish State Railways (tcdd), were repairing railways that were damaged in a bomb attack by

PKK members on a freight train that was carrying pipes to Erzurum as part of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline system (TANAP) earlier in the day.

Railway worker Nejdet Inanch was killed in the attack while Mehmet Chelik, a village guard, was injured in the attack, Kars Governor Gunay Ozdemir said.
