Trend:

The Turkish foreign ministry handed over a note of protest to Russian ambassador to Ankara in connection with the second plane incident, which occurred on Oct. 4, a diplomatic source in Turkey told RIA Novosti.

NATO states that Russia's Su-30 and Su-24 aircraft violated the airspace of Turkey October 3 and 4, despite a warning from the Turkish authorities.

"The ambassador was summoned to the foreign ministry, where a note of protest was handed over to him," the agency said.

He said that the note was handed over with the following wording: "Measures must be taken to avoid such actions".

The Russian defense ministry said Oct. 5 that Russian Su-30 aircraft was flying in the Turkish airspace for a few seconds Oct. 3.

The defense ministry said that the incident was the result of unfavorable weather conditions. The Russian side has not officially confirmed any incidents Oct. 4.
