Erdogan: Turkey to continue active foreign policy

Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb. 10

By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

External forces aim to prevent Turkey to pursue an active foreign policy in the region, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, TRT Haber TV channel reported Feb. 10.

Despite all attempts of external forces to counteract Ankara, Turkey, as before, will continue an active foreign policy, he said.

Erdogan noted that Turkey has main priorities, such as the fight against terrorism, and Turkey will continue this fight until the end, in particular, against PKK.

The attacks of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on military units and police stations in the south-east of Turkey became more frequent in recent months.

As a result of collisions with the PKK more than 200 soldiers were killed in Turkey in 2015.

Turkey's conflict with the PKK, which requires the creation of an independent Kurdish state, continues for over 25 years and claimed more than 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the European Union.
