The details of the expected reforms in Turkish intelligence have been revealed, the Haber7 newspaper reported Aug.2 citing sources in the government.

Reportedly, Turkey's National Intelligence Organization will have two divisions: foreign and domestic intelligence.

The decision was made after the meeting of Turkey’s Cabinet of Ministers Aug.1.

Additionally, Turkey's National Intelligence Organization will be subordinate to the country’s president, according to the report.

Earlier, the country’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said that a number of reforms will be held in the Turkish National Intelligence Organization.

Yildirim said that the reforms will be aimed at improving the intelligence service of Turkey.

It was earlier reported that President Erdogan couldn’t reach the head of intelligence service on the day of the military coup attempt in the country.

On July 15 evening, Turkish authorities said a military coup attempt took place in the country. Meanwhile, a group of servicemen announced about transition of power to them.

However, the rebelling servicemen started to surrender July 16 and Turkish authorities said the coup attempt failed. Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the death toll as a result of the military coup attempt stood at 246 people excluding the coup plotters and over 2,000 people were wounded.

Erdogan declared a three-month state of emergency in Turkey on July 20.
