Akar: Turkey to continue clean-up in military

Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 19

By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

Turkey will continue the work to identify supporters of the Gulen movement in the Armed Forces, Chief of the General Staff of Turkish Armed Forces Hulusi Akar said, Milliyet newspaper reported Sept. 19.

Akar added that only after a full clean-up in the Turkish Armed Forces, will the country’s army become stronger.

Fethullah Gulen’s movement was involved in the July 15 military coup attempt in Turkey.

On July 15 evening, Turkish authorities said a military coup attempt took place in the country. Meanwhile, a group of servicemen announced about transition of power to them.

However, the rebelling servicemen started to surrender July 16 and Turkish authorities said the coup attempt failed.
