Turkish holding to enter Iran’s energy market

Turkey’s Zorlu Enerji holding will build a 100 megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Iran, Anadolu Agency reported citing the holding’s Director General Sinan Ak.

According to him, Iran’s market became attractive after the removal of sanctions.

“Iran will invest in the renewable energy sector to get additionally 15,000-20,000 MW. Zorlu Enerji will build a solar power plant in Iran. We are also in active talks to create a 50 MW wind farm.,” Ak said.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was reached July 14, 2015, between Iran and the group 5+1 (the US, the UK, France, Russia, China, plus Germany) to put an end to the 12-year dispute over Iran’s nuclear program.

The JCPOA also implied termination of economic and financial sanctions imposed by the United States, the United Nations and the European Union against Iran.
