If the EU goes further in its policy against Turkey, Ankara will open the borders for refugees, willing to enter the EU countries, TRT Haber channel cited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying Nov. 25.

The European Parliament has recently adopted a resolution recommending suspending the discussion of Turkey's EU membership.

According to the message, President Erdogan said that the European Parliament’s resolution is meaningless.

The Turkish president added that the European countries would not have even paid attention to the Syrian crisis, if they had not been disturbed by a threat of a flow of refugees willing to enter the EU countries, the message said.

The European Commission proposed the European Parliament and the EU Council in May to lift visa restrictions for Turkish citizens if Ankara fulfills the remaining conditions for the visa abolition until the end of June and keeps Syrian refugees on its territory.

The European Parliament’s resolution was adopted by 479 votes "for" and 37 "against", 107 MPs abstained from voting.

According to the resolution, the European Parliament is concerned about the measures taken in Turkey as part of the emergency situation in the country.

According to the document, if the death penalty is restored in Turkey, Turkey's EU membership will be fully suspended.

Moreover, according to the resolution, Turkey has not fulfilled seven of 72 conditions for visa-free travel within the EU.
