Turkey’s army has neutralized 9,600 militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist group from July 2015 up until now, Turkish Minister of National Defense Fikri Isik said at a press conference March 6.
Isik added that Turkey will continue to actively fight against the PKK militants who pose a serious threat to the country’s national security.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for more than 30 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.
The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
