Development of a new, more flexible strategy in foreign policy is important for Azerbaijan. But there will not be a gap between Baku and Ankara, Russian expert on South Caucasus Sergey Markedonov said.

"It does not worth dramatizing the Turkey-Azerbaijan relations, as in any case these are two Turkic-speaking neighboring countries. There will not be a fundamental gap between them," head of the department of international relations at the Institute of Political and Military Analysis, Markedonov, told Trend over phone from Moscow on October 28.

Turkish and Armenian foreign ministers signed the protocols Ankara-Yerevan in Zurich on October 10.

The reasons for breaking diplomatic relations and closing the Turkey-Armenia border in 1993 were anti-Turkish campaign deployed by Yerevan related to claims of the Armenian side to recognize the so-called "genocide", occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory by Armenia and Armenian territorial claims to Turkish Anatolia.
