Koray Targay of Turkey took office today as the new Head of the OSCE Office in Baku, the organization's report says.
"The OSCE Office in Baku has established a fruitful co-operation with the Government of Azerbaijan, political parties and civil society, which is essential to improving the country's implementation of its OSCE commitments. I am looking forward to supporting the Government and civil society members in their efforts in all three OSCE dimensions," said Targay.
Prior to his appointment, Targay served as Turkish Ambassador to the Czech Republic. A career diplomat, he has served in a number of posts, including in Switzerland, Syria, Canada, Germany and Greece. He was also Turkey's Ambassador to Malaysia.
Targay succeeds Ambassador Bilge Cankorel from Turkey, who left the Office in July of 2011.
