No factor is able to affect the fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said during his speech in the Parsabad city on the Iranian-Azerbaijani border, Mehr News Agency reported.

Iran being a fraternal country to Azerbaijan supports the independence of this country, Ahmadinejad added.

"We are interested in developing relations with Azerbaijan in the border regions and expanding joint activities at checkpoints on the border areas", he said.

Ahmadinejad arrived in the province of Ardabil, which is located on the Azerbaijan-Iran border, on Sept. 14.

During his tour to the province, Ahmadinejad visited the cities of Halhal, Kovsar, Nir. Today, he has left for cities of Bilasuvar, Parsabad, Germany, Meshkinshahr and Namin bordering Azerbaijan.
