The capacity of the communication channel linking the Institute of Physics, National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan with the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN) must be at least 1 Gbit/s, senior scientist Farhad Khalil-zade said to Trend on Thursday.
According to Khalil-zade, the connection is 45 Mbit/s.
"Of course, the main obstacle is still the material component. We are already negotiating on increasing of the bandwidth, and we hope that it will be solved soon. Capacity existing now is sufficient only to use the internal segment of the GRID. The capacity of the communication channel must be at least 1 Gbit / s, which is a requirement of the European Organization for Nuclear Research in order to contact the CERN," Khalil-zade said.
The Delta Telecom is the communication channel supplier.
