Iranian and Azerbaijani officials are working on strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said today, Press TV channel reported.
Mehmanparast noted that despite the fact that certain circles in both counties try to damage the relations, they are in fact developing and widening.
The relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have sharpened after two Azerbaijani poets were detained in Tabriz.
Iranian side accused the detainees for an attempt to commit crimes.
In the beginning of September, the Iranian side released the poets, who were arrested on May 2, when they arrived in Tabriz to participate in a poetry festival.
Azerbaijani side had to issue five notes to the Iranian Foreign Ministry to provide information on the detained poets, and organize meeting between them and Azerbaijani diplomatic mission.
