The head of the Azerspace-1 satellite control centre says will be ready for commissioning in December, Azercosmos reported to Trend on Thursday.

Located in the village of Guzdek in Baku's Garadagh region, construction work and necessary infrastructure are in the final stages.

The installation of antennas and other satellite equipment are being completed. The work on establishment of an IT infrastructure and office peripheral equipment is currently being launched.

Moreover, construction mounting work of a reserve satellite control centre located in the Nakchivan Autonomous Republic at the village of Nahajir in the Julfa region is planned for October.

Construction of the centres is included in the total cost of the Azerspace-1 first telecommunication satellite launch project. This stands at 250 million dollars with 85 per cent of falling to the share of foreign borrowings and 15 per cent to the funds from the government budget.

Azerbaijan's first telecommunication satellite will be delivered to the Kura Cosmodrome in November, with its launch planned for the beginning of 2013.

The French Arianspace will place the satellite in orbit. The American Orbital Sciences Corporation is the manufacturer of the satellite and the orbital position will be 46 degrees eastern longitude where the satellite will be placed according to an agreement with the Malaysian operator MEASAT, which is shared.
