Azerbaijan and Georgia have launched a regular monitoring of CDMA communication standard channels in border areas, a report of the State Administration of Radio Frequencies (SARF) of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies said on Monday.

According to the SARF, the works will be carried out from August 26 to 29 with the participation of CDMA operators of Azerbaijan and Georgia, in accordance with the protocol signed between the administrations of the two countries.

The agreement envisages the regulation of radio frequency spectrum and reducing the possibility of interference with radio electronic devices in border areas.

Today, the Georgian and Azerbaijani sides use similar base stations and the similar frequency resources which create interferences.

According to the agreement, the parties are equally using the frequency spectrums of 1800 and 900 MHz for GSM-communication, as well as 800 MHz frequencies, used to provide wireless communication services of CDMA standard.

The sides agreed to equally share 124 channels in the frequency band of 900 MHz, which is used in GSM communication standard.

Each side uses 60 channels, and the remaining four channels are equally used as a backup band.

The channels between CDMA operators are distributed similarly, where the Georgian and Azerbaijani sides shared seven channels among themselves.

Three channels are used by the Azerbaijani side and three channels by the Georgian, and one channel is reserved.
