Azerbaijan is negotiating with Estonia on bilateral recognition of digital signatures, the Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan told Trend on Thursday.

As the ministry said, for now a preliminary agreement on this issue has already been achieved and according to ministry's forecasts, the completion of work on bilateral recognition of e-signatures between the two countries is expected in the near future.

"The long term plans include expansion of the geography of the recognition of e-signatures with all European countries. International recognition of e-signature guarantees and its legal significance when signing documents between the countries'public and private organisations," the ministry said.

Today in most national legislative acts, the international recognition of electronic signatures and associated keys and certificates, is provided by the inclusion of the relevant provisions. The provisions state that an electronic signature that can be verified by a public key and has a foreign certificate is recognised as such if there is an agreement with the state authority that issued the certificate, on recognition of such certificates.
