Azerbaijani presidential election was held very transparently and met the international standards, the head of the Mission of European Strategic Intelligence and Security Center Claude Moniquet said at the press-conference in Baku on Thursday.

"Despite the fact that Azerbaijan is going through a transition period, the country held free, fair and transparent elections," he said.

According to him, the ESISC observation mission visited 200 polling stations in Baku, Sumgait and in other areas, and 11 vote counting stations.

Among the stations visited by observers were mobile polling station for people with disabilities, special station for voting in the prison #11 of the Penitentiary Service of the Justice Ministry, a special polling station in one of the military units of Baku and one special polling station for people with disabilities in Baku.

According to Moniquet, based on the results of observations the mission members noted that the local election commissions and national observation missions includes a large number of women. The mission observers also noted the high percentage of young voters and a large number of national election observers.

The head of the European Centre for Strategic Intelligence and Security (ESISC) expressed satisfaction with the competent organization of the voting process in prisons in Azerbaijan, despite the fact that it is a complicated process, as well as the organization of mobile polling stations for people with disabilities.

According to him, strict compliance with all legislative norms was also noted by the observers at the vote counting stations.

Azerbaijani presidential election was held on October 9. According to the results announced by Azerbaijani CEC after processing of ballots from 99.53 percent of polling stations, President Ilham Aliyev gathered 3,118,287 votes (84.59 percent).
