Azerbaijan’s mobile communications market to grow 17 per cent by 2018

According to the outlook, the number of mobile communication subscribers in Azerbaijan will increase by 17.3 per cent by late 2017, the draft state budget for 2014 presented for Azerbaijani Parliament's consideration, said.

The draft state budget includes an outlook on the growth of the number of subscribers (number of Sim-cards) of Azerbaijan's mobile communication network in the next four years. In 2014, the growth is projected at 5.7 per cent, in 2015 - 4.8 per cent and in 2016 and 2017 at 2.9 per cent.

By late 2013, the number of subscribers will amount to 10,357,500 and before the end of 2017 the number of subscribers will reach 12,153,800. This means the mobile penetration in the country will increase from 110.1 per cent to 129.2 per cent.

In 2014, this figure will reach 116.4 per cent, in 2015 - 122.1 per cent and in 2016 - 125.6 per cent.

The draft budget also includes an outlook for the landline telephony market.

According to forecasts, in 2013 the total number of main telephone devices in Azerbaijan for every 100 people will amount to 19.

In 2014 this figure will be equal to 19.3, in 2015 - 19.6, in 2016 - 20.3 and in 2017 - 21.1.

The number of main telephone devices in 2017 will increase from 1,476,500 to 1,592,000.
