Azerbaijani and foreign scholars are discussing the problems of molecular biology in Baku today, rector of the Azerbaijan Medical University Ahliman Emiraslanov said at the session organized as part of the Third Baku International Humanitarian Forum.

According to Emiraslanov, four Nobel Prize laureates from Israel and the U.S are participating in a session panel.

"Today, we will discuss the problems in the field of molecular biology and technologies," Emiraslanov said.

According to Emiraslanov, this trend is developing very rapidly and affects many spheres of human activity. In particular, stem cells have recently made it possible to cure many diseases considered incurable.

"But the development of this area sets certain ethical problems, such as cloning of organs and organisms as a whole," Emiraslanov added.

At the panel Nobel Prize laureate in Chemistry Ada Yonath made a presentation on the problem of human life expectancy in different world countries under the influence of antibiotics on the ribosome.

Nobel Prize laureate in chemistry, professor and one of the founders of the compensation biology Arieh Warshel devoted his presentation to the fight with the resistance (addiction) to the medicaments.

The Third Baku International Humanitarian Forum is being held in Baku on October 31-November 1.

The guests from over 70 world countries are participating in the forum.

Round tables will be organised in eight directions: the convergence of technologies and the shape of the future: the main challenges of the 21st century; humanitarian aspects of economic development, scientific innovations and their transfer to the education sector; multiculturalism and identity: in search of value consensus in society, national identity in the post-modern era; sustainable development and ecological civilization; achievements of molecular biology and biotechnology: from theory to practice and relevant media issues under the conditions of globalisation of information space.
