By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

Baku Telephone Communications Production Association under the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry has introduced a service of transferring the stationary subscriber numbers in its network, Production Association Deputy Director General Khankishi Kishiyev told Trend on Thursday.

According to Kishiyev, the service is rendered within the operator's telecommunication nodes (in Baku and settlements of the capital). When moving to new flats, citizens can keep a phone number.

"The companies and state enterprises can be the target audience," he said.
"Expanding the service throughout the country is not excluded in the future," he said. "This will be possible thanks to the joint efforts of the Baku Telephone Communication and Aztelekom."

In change of changing the operator, the implementation of the service will allow fixed-communications subscribers to keep their phone numbers. The number transfer envisages full migration of a subscriber number from one operator's network to another. The ministry told Trend earlier that the fixed number transfer service in the Azerbaijani fixed communication operators' network requires the expansion of mechanisms and rules.

"If there is demand for the service, then it is possible that it will be applied in the public telephone network in Azerbaijan," the ministry said.
