The e-security center under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and High Technologies will be accredited in CERT under the Software Engineering Institute (SEI), the center told Trend on March 27.
A request for accreditation in SEI (cert.gov) has already been sent. The issue is being considered, the e-security center said.
The accreditation in SEI will allow the Azerbaijani e-security center to gain international recognition and the right to use CERT trademark in Azerbaijan.
Currently, there are three Computer Incident Response teams in Azerbaijan, namely, AZ-CERT at the Institute of Information Technologies under the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), CERT under the State Agency for Special Communication and Information Security of the Azerbaijani Special State Protection Service and CERT under the Ministry of Education.
CERT.org was officially authorized by Carnegie Mellon University. It has the permission for using the CERT trademark.
The University conducts research in the field of science and technology, particularly, innovations in robotics and artificial intellect. CERT.org includes countering the use of domain names for phishing, an unauthorized access to the information systems of the third parties, the spread of malware programs and management of malware programs.
The decree on the activity of the electronic security center under the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies was signed by the Azerbaijani president on March 5, 2013. The statute about the center was approved by this decree. The center deals with the coordination of the activity of the information infrastructure entities in cyber security, awareness at the national level about the existing and possible electronic hazards, educating the public, private and other entities (users) in the field of cyber security.
