European Economic Chamber creates bridges between the business communities of Europe

Meeting of the Board of Directors of the European Economic Chamber and the 4th Conference of Presidents and Vice Presidents of the Regional Representative Offices of the European Economic Chamber dedicated to the opening of a new headquarters office of the European Economic Chamber in Brussels was held on 6th - 7th June 2014 in Brussels.

The conference brought together presidents and vice-presidents from 48 countries out of 54, where there are representative offices of this internationally operating organization, as well as the leaders of industry-specific central offices.

One of the most important items of the Conference Program was formal approval of the candidacy of a well-known statesperson of Europe Mrs. Vaira Vike-Freiberga for the new President of the European Economic Chamber.

Mrs. Vaira Vike-Freiberga served as President of Latvia in 1999-2007. Currently, she is a Special Envoy to the UN Secretary General, vice-chair of the Reflection Group on the long-term future of the European Union, co-chair of the Board of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, President of the Club de Madrid.

President of the European Economic Chamber EEIG representative office in Azerbaijan Mr. Nizami Piriyev made a speech at the conference. He expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Vaira Vike-Freiberga for accepting the offer to head the European Economic Chamber despite the heavy workload due to her state and social activities and co-chairpersonship of number of other international organizations: "Allow me on behalf of all the regional presidents and functionaries of the Chamber and me personally to express our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Vaira Vike-Freiberga for accepting our offer to head the European Economic Chamber.

We are confident that under the leadership of Mrs. Vike-Freiberga the Chamber will continue to develop successfully, integrate and expand its network of business circles in Europe and other countries of the world, and contribute to European integration, which, in its turn, is the main objective of the European Economic Chamber's mission".

European Economic Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry is an internationally operating non-governmental organization with its head office located in Brussels. The organization was established in 1998 and currently has representative offices in 54 countries.
