Azerbaijan Materials 12 February 2007 17:12 (UTC +04:00)

Poultry deaths have begun in the Village of Boyat of Aghdjabadi District of Azerbaijan. According to inhabitants of the Village, death cases among the poultry began more than a week ago. The inhabitants vaccinated the poultry; however it has been no use. They say said black spots are visible on the dead poultry heads and crests.

Irada Aghayeva, the Chief of the Veterinary Department of Aghdjabadi District proved these facts. She said that the Veterinary Service of the Village had already informed the Veterinary Department of the District. Employees of the veterinary Department will depart for the Village, take corresponding measures, and conduct checks. As to the black spots on the heads and crests, the poultry likely died from illness.

Mrs. Aghayeva also said that a few days ago, the poultry death began in the Village of Karakhanli, which is located not far from the Village of Boyat.

The Veterinary Department of the District has sent the blood samples of 30 dead birds and 5 samples of the carcasses in the State veterinary Department for further analysis.

The reply concerning the analyses of the blood has been received. They indicate that a bacillus of intestinal worm was the reason of the poultry death. The penetration of the disease became possible due to the carelessness of the inhabitants of the Village. If they had vaccinated the poultry in time, then it would not have occurred. Mrs. Aghayeva also said that the State Veterinary Department had sent veterinary chemicals due to the spread of the Disease. Free vaccination is currently being carried out among the poultry in some villages of the Region.
