Ombudsman: Life imprisoned will see more favorable conditions.

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. "Тrend" S.Ihamgizi/ Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova, an authority on human rights stated in Azerbaijan on 23 February at a press conference that some prisons in Gobustan, including closed prisons, would be closed.

She added that the prisoners will be moved to newly built buildings and the conditions of those prisoners serving life imprisonment will be made more favourable. According to Suleymanova, temporary detention stations in Oghuz region are in a miserable condition and would undergo renovations. She also said she had visited all prisons and each of them were equipped with ombudsman Apparatus posters which stated that any cases of torture should be reported to the Ombudsman Apparatus on their 24-hour hotline.

Suleymanova stated that "attention is given to all complaints received and confirmed cases are appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers".
