Baku, Azerbaijan, June 4

The first European Games to be held in Azerbaijan is a very important event for the country, representative of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Australia Aydan Rzayeva told Trend June 4.
Azerbaijan gets more and more developed from year to year, and the European Games will contribute to this, she said. "I have been living in Australia for already 22 years, but I often come to Azerbaijan," Rzayeva said. "Every visit I cannot help wondering at the beauty of Baku, the country's development in general. I think that everything will be even better thanks to the European Games," she said.
Rzayeva went on to add that the Azerbaijani diaspora is doing everything possible to promote Azerbaijan in Australia. "Little about Azerbaijan is known in Australia, but we do our best to change that. We are making efforts to expand the relations between Azerbaijan and Australia."
Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
