Turkey's most influential sports website fanatik.com.tr presented an article titled "Countdown to the European Games" dedicated to the Baku 2015 European Games.

Noting that the European Games is the first-ever such event in the history of European sports on continental scale, the article's author recalls that the opening ceremony for this grand sporting event will be held on June 12.

The author said that Turkey will be represented by 190 athletes in 19 sports at the inaugural European Games, which will feature over 6,000 athletes.

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place from 12 - 28 June 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. Almost 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

The European Olympic Committees (EOC) awarded Baku the games in December 2012. The Baku European Games Operations Committee (BEGOC) will organize and run the Games in cooperation with the EOC.
