The water polo competitions among men started in Baku as part of the first European Games in Baku June 13.

The competitions began with Croatia - Turkey and Spain - Malta matches (C and D groups respectively).

Azerbaijan-Romania match will begin at 18:45 (UTC/GMT +4 hours). Germany-Hungary match (B group) will be also held.

Montenegro - Greece match (C group) will be held as part of the first round of the preliminary round.

It will begin at 20:30 (UTC/GMT +4 hours). Serbia-Slovakia match (D group) will be held at 11:15 (UTC/GMT +4 hours).

In addition, Russia-Ukraine and Italy-France matches will be played in group A.

Water polo competitions among women in groups A and B will also take place today.

The United Kingdom - Germany, Hungary - Israel and Greece - the Netherlands will play in group A, and Serbia - Slovakia, Russia - France and Spain - Italy matches will be held in the group B.

All competitions will be held at the Water Polo Arena.

Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which kicked off on June 12.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

The First European Games will last till June 28.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
