Azerbaijani karateka Irina Zaretska (68 kg) has advanced to the semi-finals at the First European Games.
In the third round of the competitions on kumite (karate) she defeated Greek Vasiliki Panetsidou, 1:0.
Before this, in the first round, Zaretska gained a victory over Spanish Cristina Vizcaino (6:1), while in the second round she lost to Alisa Buchinger from Austria (0:4).
In the semi-finals, Zaretska will compete with Montenegrin athlete Marina Rakovic.
The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28.
There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
