The First European Games in Baku is a new tradition in sports, Przemyslaw Lis, one of the coaches of the Polish artistic gymnastics team at Baku 2015, told Trend June 17.

Lis said the Games are a new tradition for the gymnasts and other athletes as well, said Lis. He added that each athlete participating in the European Games, gets great experience.

Furthermore, Katarzyna Jurkowska-Kowalska and Gabriela Janik, Polish gymnasts taking part at the First European Games told Trend that the participation in these Games is very important for them in terms of gaining new experience as well.

The gymnasts said that good conditions have been created for them at the European Games.

The Polish gymnasts said they are in Azerbaijan for the first time and they liked the country. The athletes added they want to get more familiar with Baku and taste Azerbaijani cuisine.

The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28.

There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
