Great interest in gymnastics in Azerbaijan, says Swiss athlete

There is a great interest in gymnastics in Azerbaijan, Taha Serhani, a gymnast representing Switzerland at the Baku 2015 European Games, told Trend June 19.
Serhani said the Baku 2015 became an excellent experience for him, adding that the Games are very similar to the Olympics.
The athlete said Azerbaijan organized the European Games at the highest level, adding that all the necessary conditions were created for athletes.
The gymnast also noted that the opening ceremony of the European Games in Baku was grand, and that he really enjoyed it.
Serhani further said the Azerbaijani gymnasts are performing successfully at the Baku 2015.
The Swiss athlete said he has for a long time known the Azerbaijani gymnast Oleg Stepko and many others, adding that they are successfully performing at competitions.
Serhani also noted that the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku meets the highest standards.
He said there is a wonderful atmosphere in the National Gymnastics Arena, the modern sports equipment was installed there, adding that it is very convenient to compete in the arena.
The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28. There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.
More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
