Italian athlete glad to participate in first European Games

The first European Games are the best competitions in the athletic career of Italian fencer Alberto Pellegrini, he told Trend June 23.
The athlete expressed his joy over his participation in the first European Games in Baku.
He said that European Games are a very important competition. "I believe that the Games create a chance for the athletes to gain new experience and improve themselves," said Pellegrini. "I do my best to achieve a good result and I will try to prepare for the second European Games even better."
Italian fencer went on to add that Azerbaijan holds the first European Games at a high level. "I took part in many international competitions, and therefore I can say that Azerbaijan carried out a very good organizational work," said the athlete.
Noting that it is his first visit to Azerbaijan, Pellegrini said that he liked Baku, Azerbaijan very much. "We had a walk along Baku," said the athlete. "This is a very beautiful city, people here are very friendly and hospitable. National cuisine of Azerbaijan is excellent. I enjoyed my stay in Baku."
The European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and will last till June 28. There are a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.
More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
