Baku Taxi Company, which operates the purpose-built taxicabs TX4, plans to increase its vehicle fleet by 500 cars prior to the start of the Baku 2015 First European Games, the company told Trend Sept. 12.

Currently, the company's car fleet consists of 1,000 cars that operate only within the capital.

The company did not say anything about the exact date of delivery of the new cars to Azerbaijan.

Previously, Azerbaijan's Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov said Baku needs 2,000 new taxis.

The First European Games will be held in Baku on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Asked about the tariffs on travelling, the Baku Taxi Company said they remain unchanged.

Below are the fares for using the Baku Taxi Company's services (official exchange rate for Sept.12 is 0.7843 AZN/USD):

Add. metered fare per kilometer (up to 10 kilometers)

0.7 AZN

Add. metered fare per kilometer (from 10 to 20 kilometers)

Add. metered fare per kilometer (from 20 kilometers and over)

0.2 AZN

Cost of each minute of downtime

0.05 AZN

The total value of the contract for supply of TX4 vehicles to Baku, concluded in 2011, stood at about $27 million.
