Hungarian Wizz Air in the coming days will resume the Baku-Budapest direct flights, Minister of Industry and Economy of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev said.

The flights will be resumed upon the instructions from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Mustafayev said in Budapest at a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto, the Azerbaijani embassy in Hungary said Apr.22.

The message said that exchange of views on the new projects being implemented took place at the meeting of Mustafayev and Szijjarto, who are the co-chairmen of the Azerbaijani-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

In particular, the sides said that Azerbaijan and Hungary to date have been cooperating in such areas as water industry, agriculture, tourism, education and others. The governments of both countries are also interested in developing cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, construction, pharmaceuticals.

Szijjarto said that Hungary with interest observes the improvement of the international image of Azerbaijan, which has become a reliable partner of the EU in the region.

The parties went on to add that the agreement on strategic partnership signed between Azerbaijan and Hungary opens up new opportunities for the two countries, according to the message.

The minister of economy and industry of Azerbaijan also met in Budapest with Minister for National Economy of Hungary Mihaly Varga and discussed the prospects of cooperation between the two countries.

Budapest will host a regular meeting of the Azerbaijani-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation on April 22.

The direct flights between Baku and Budapest were made in accordance with the memorandum of cooperation signed by the civil aviation administrations of the two countries.
