China plans to construct a new railway to Kazakhstan’s Aktau or Atyrau city, in order to have a shorter and cheaper way of transportation of goods to Azerbaijan, the Ambassador of China to Kazakhstan Zhang Hanhui said at a press conference on March 27, Kazakh media outlets reported.
The diplomat noted that China has great plans regarding Central Asia, which will benefit both sides of cooperation, adding that China has already linked two railways with the countries of Central Asia and Europe.
"We are also studying the possibilities of building a railway to the Kazakh city of Aktau, or through the Atyrau city to Azerbaijan," the ambassador said.
Zhang Hanhui stressed that the economies of China and the Central Asian countries should be maximally linked, with the further integration of the interests of all the regional countries.
