Azerbaijan’s AZERSTAR Manufacturing and Trading Company intends to increase export volume to the markets of European countries, Zulfugar Gurbanov, executive director of the company, told Trend.
AZERSTAR is considered one of the biggest national companies processing and exporting hazelnuts. The company produces peeled, crushed, fried and blanched nuts, as well as walnut flour.
“To date, about 3,000 tons of finished products are annually exported,” he said. "Our products have been exported to the international markets since 2006. Our company produces and exports up to 25 percent of the total volume of Azerbaijani hazelnuts, while the annual sales volume in 2017 amounted to $22 million."
At the end of 2017, 45,500 tons of hazelnuts were produced in the country, which is by 32.9 percent more than in 2016. Approximately 18,000-20,000 tons of processed hazelnuts have been produced over the past year. Over 60,000 tons of hazelnuts are planned to be produced in the country in 2018, which is much more than in 2017.”
Gurbanov also touched upon the plans for export of products, stressing that the company has begun to supply products to many more CIS countries and a number of European countries.
"Our products are exported to a number of European countries, mainly to Germany, Italy, France, England and the Baltic countries,” he said. “As the company focuses on the expansion of sales markets, hazelnuts from Azerbaijan’s Zagatala district are already available in most of the outlets of the EU countries."
