Azerenergy announces plans for production of electricity

Azerbaijan plans to produce 23.552 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity this year, Trend reports citing Azerenergy JSC.

In 2018, 22.521 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced in the country, which is 748.1 million kilowatt-hours or 3.43 percent more than in 2017.

It is planned to export about 1.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2019.

In 2018, the exported electricity was 1.41 billion kilowatt-hours. About 121.4 million kilowatt-hours were exported to Russia, 1.23 billion kilowatt-hours to Georgia, 13.4 million kilowatt-hours to Turkey and 48.3 million kilowatt-hours to Iran, reported Azerenergy.

Azerenergy has over 30 power plants. The total generation capacity of the plants exceeds 6,000 megawatts, which makes it possible to generate about 24 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.

Today, the total capacity of power generation in Azerbaijan is 3,850-3,900 megawatts. This figure was 3,600 megawatts at the beginning of September 2018.
