The first AHK-Impuls event dedicated to the Implementation of Migration Policy Reforms in Azerbaijan, organized by the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce, was held on February 7, 2019 at Hyatt Meeting & Conference Centre.
The topic of the current AHK-Impuls was dedicated to the ongoing reforms and recent developments in the migration sector of Azerbaijan. The participants of the event were informed about the priorities and envisaged activities of the Migration Service in 2019, the ongoing reforms as well as about the facilitation of the migration challenges of foreign citizens. The honorary guest speaker of the event, Chief of State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr Vusal Huseynov delivered a presentation on “Implementing Migration Policy Reforms in Azerbaijan” in the event. Several tasks of the migration sectors were discussed in the active questions and answers section.
Mr. Ilgar Mehti, the Founder and Director of EKVITA continued the event with his comprehensive presentation on “10 years of applying migration laws in Azerbaijan” which aimed to enlighten the participants about the path that the State Migration Service went through and EKVITA’s role and contributions during this period. The presentation also covered an overview of the Azerbaijani legislation on migration law, recommendations to the legislation proposed by EKVITA during the past 5 years, positive actions taken in this regard and suggestions on how to deal with the gaps still remaining in the legislation.
