The annual trade turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan reached $417 million in March 2019, Trend reports referring to Tasnim News Agency.
The trade turnover between the two countries reached $229 million in 2017, while $446 million in 2018, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee said.
Iran is the fourth biggest exporter of goods to Azerbaijan, Secretary of the Azerbaijan-Iran Chamber of Commerce said.
In turn, Azerbaijan ranks 18th in the list of the biggest importers of goods to Iran.
The secretary stressed the importance of expanding the cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan.
He added that the acceptable measures were taken in the field of pharmaceutics, which is an important milestone in joint investment projects.
Iran and Azerbaijan have recently intensified the efforts to establish closer partnership in various spheres, including transport, tourism, investments, energy, as well as information and communication technologies.
The trilateral meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran will be held in August 2019, at which the issues related to the prospects for trade turnover between the countries will also be discussed.
