BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 1. Asian Development Bank (ADB) will adopt new Country Partnership Strategy for 2024-2028 program for Azerbaijan, Country Director in Azerbaijan of the ADB Candice McDeigan told Trend.

“We just started the process of developing the strategy. Large part of this strategy will surround issues of climate change and "green" energy in alignment with priorities of the government of Azerbaijan,” McDeigan said.

According to her, the program is aligned with ADB’s Strategy 2030 and in most parts it is also linked with the national socio-economic priorities.

Strategy 2030 sets the course for the ADB to respond effectively to the region's changing needs. Under Strategy 2030, ADB will sustain its efforts to eradicate extreme poverty and expand its vision to achieve a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia and the Pacific.

Previously, ADB has set the Country Partnership Strategy (CPS), 2019–2023 for Azerbaijan.

The CPS aims to boost private sector development, raise public sector efficiency, improve infrastructure, and strengthen human capital. It is based on Azerbaijan’s upper middle-income country status, in line with the differentiated approaches to groups of countries under ADB’s Strategy 2030.
